Wings of Stone  4

Angels watch with darkened gaze Tears of pearl fall, unfettered, Flee to cluttered fields and rest; Frightened children beyond their days fear wings of stone with whispered  prayer, Shall not lift us; “ O’ Lord,        Would’st Thou have us know        Thou shalt smile and intervene         to soften wings of stone?”
